It appears another I’m company I’m with is coming to an end. They recently got purchased by a bigger mortgage lender. Unfortunately, the new company won’t be bringing over everyone. About 30% of the company will be out of a job. While the rest will be offered new employment by the purchaser. There are people that have been with this company for over 10 years and it’s heartbreaking to see them say their goodbyes.
The mortgage industry is probably the most volatile industry I’ve worked in by far. The number of random layoffs and furloughs that happen is just mind blowing to me. When the economy is good it’s the highest of highs. When it’s bad, it’s the lowest of lows. Morale just drops completely here.
This isn’t the first time I had to experience having to close down a company and it probably won’t be my last. However, it seems like it never gets any easier. I will say the relationships and friends I gained from this job was amazing. Everyone from accounting, sales, HR, and marketing were all a pleasure to work with. I guess that’s what makes it harder right?
What will be my next steps? Not sure. I was planning to move to the east coast at some point but may stick around depending how the job market is here. I have a friend that is moving to Washington in the near future and would like to meet up with them before I leave. It is an end of an era here at AXIA, but I’m happy I was able come along for the ride.
It’s like that one saying… One door closes, another one opens.
